Drug: Carafate

sucralfate (pronounced SOO-kral-fayt)

Common Side Effects: constipation.

Less Common Side Effects: dizziness, sleepiness, headache, vertigo, nausea, stomach discomfort, diarrhea, vomiting, gas pain or passing gas, dry mouth, indigestion, rash, itching, back pain.

Missed Dose: Take your missed dose as soon as possible. If it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose as scheduled. Don't double the dose.

Drug Interactions: Combining certain medications may alter their actions or produce unwanted effects. Tell your health care provider about other prescription medications, nonprescription medications, herbs, and supplements you're taking, especially:

antacids
cimetidine (Tagamet)
ciprofloxacin (Cipro)
digoxin
ketoconazole (Nizoral)
norfloxacin (Noroxin)
phenytoin (Dilantin)
quinidine
ranitidine (Zantac)
tetracycline
theophylline.
