Drug: Catapres-TTS

clonidine (pronounced KLON-uh-deen)

 
Common Side Effects: drowsiness, dizziness, sedation, weakness, constipation, dry mouth, itching, inflamed skin (with transdermal patch).
 
Less Common Side Effects: fatigue, malaise, agitation, depression, low blood pressure, slow heart rate, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, inability to urinate, impotence, loss of sex drive, rash, weight gain.
 
Missed Dose: Take the missed dose as soon as possible. If you miss changing the skin patch for more than 3 days, check with your health care provider right away.
 
Drug Interactions: Combining certain medications may alter their actions or produce unwanted effects. Tell your health care provider about other prescription medications, nonprescription medications, herbs, and supplements you're taking, especially:
  • diuretics (water pills) and other blood pressure medications
  • MAO inhibitors (antidepressants)
  • medications that slow down the central nervous system (such as cold and allergy medications, tranquilizers, and sedatives)
  • prazosin (Minipress)
  • propranolol and other beta blockers
  • tricyclic antidepressants (such as amitriptyline and desipramine)
  • verapamil (Calan SR, Isoptin SR).
