topiramate (pronounced toh-PIGH-rah-mayt) |

| Common Side Effects: confusion, dizziness, tremor, abnormal or double vision, nausea, upper respiratory tract infection. |
| |
| Less Common Side Effects: abnormal coordination, agitation, aggression, chest pain, rapid heartbeat, upset stomach, irregular or absent menstrual period, change in weight, increased sweating, rash, fever, decreased libido, breast pain, hot flashes, difficulty with concentration, attention, or memory. |

| Missed Dose: Take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it's almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Don't double the dose. |

Drug Interactions: Combining certain medications may alter their actions or produce unwanted effects. Tell your health care provider about other prescription medications, nonprescription medications, herbs, and supplements you're taking, especially:
- carbamazepine (Tegretol)
- carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (such as acetazolamide and dichlorphenamide)
- hormonal contraceptives
- medications that slow down the central nervous system (such as cold and allergy medications, tranquilizers, and sedatives)
- phenytoin (Dilantin)
- valproic acid derivatives (such as Depacon, Depakene, and Depakote).
