Drug: Metaglip

glipizide and metformin hydrochloride (pronounced GLIH-peh-zighd and met-FOR-min high-droh-KLOR-ighd)

Common Side Effects: headache, diarrhea, upper respiratory tract infection.

Less Common Side Effects: dizziness, high blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, urinary tract infection, low glucose level, musculoskeletal pain.

Missed Dose: Take the missed dose as soon as you remember, preferably with the next meal or with food. If it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Don't double the dose.

Drug Interactions: Combining certain medications may alter their actions or produce unwanted effects. Tell your health care provider about other prescription medications, nonprescription medications, herbs, and supplements you're taking, especially:

antifungals
chloramphenicol
corticosteroids (medications such a prednisone that reduce inflammation)
digoxin (Digitek, Lanoxin)
diuretics (water pills)
estrogens
hormonal contraceptives
isoniazid
MAO inhibitors (antidepressants)
medications that lower blood pressure
morphine
nicotinic acid
NSAIDs (such as Advil, Aleve, and ibuprofen)
phenothiazines
phenytoin (Dilantin)
probenecid
procainamide
quinidine
quinine
ranitidine (Zantac)
salicylates (such as aspirin)
sulfonamides (such as Bactrim)
sympathomimetics
thyroid products
trimethoprim
vancomycin (Vancocin)
warfarin (Coumadin).
