Drug: Zetia

ezetimibe (pronounced e-ZET-e-mibe)

Common Side Effects: upper respiratory tract infection.

Less Common Side Effects: dizziness, headache, coughing, sore throat, sinus infection, diarrhea, abdominal pain, back pain, tiredness, joint or muscle pain, chest pain.

Missed Dose: Try not to miss any doses. This is especially important if you take only one dose per day. If you do forget to take a dose, take the dose as soon as possible. If it's within 6 hours of your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose on schedule. Don't double the dose.

Drug Interactions: Combining certain medications may alter their actions or produce unwanted effects. Tell your health care provider about other prescription medications, nonprescription medications, herbs, and supplements you're taking, especially:

cholestyramine (Questran, LoCHOLEST)
cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune)
fenofibrate (Tricor)
gemfibrozil (Lopid).
