Drug: Ketek

telithromycin (pronounced tel-ith-roe-MIGH-sin)

Common Side Effects: diarrhea.

Less Common Side Effects: dizziness, headache, nausea, taste disturbance, visual disturbances, vomiting.

Missed Dose: Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. Don't take more than one dose (two tablets) in a 24-hour period. If you have questions, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.

Drug Interactions: Combining certain medications may alter their actions or produce unwanted effects. Tell your health care provider about other prescription medications, nonprescription medications, herbs, and supplements you're taking, especially:

antiarrhythmics (such as quinidine, procainamide, and dofetilide)
antifungals (such as itraconazole and ketoconazole)
benzodiazepines (such as triazolam)
carbamazepine (Tegretol)
cyclosporine (Gengraf, Neoral, Sandimmune)
digoxin (Lanoxin)
diuretics (water pills)
ergot alkaloid derivatives (such as dihydroergotamine and ergotamine)
medications that lower cholesterol (such as Lipitor and Mevacor)
metoprolol (Lopressor)
phenobarbital (Luminal, Solfoton)
phenytoin (Dilantin)
pimozide (Orap)
rifampin (Rifadin)
sirolimus (Rapamune)
tacrolimus (Prograf)
theophylline (Theolair, Theo-24)
warfarin (Coumadin)
