Drug: Exubra

insulin (rDNA) inhalation powder (pronounced IN-suh-lin)

 
Common Side Effects: skin changes at the site of repeated injection.
 
Less Common Side Effects: hives, itching, swelling, redness, stinging, warmth at the injection site, rash, high glucose level as a rebound effect.
 
Missed Dose: Follow your health care provider's instructions. The instructions depend on the type and amount of insulin you're taking and how much time has passed since your last insulin injection.
 
Drug Interactions: Combining certain medications may alter their actions or produce unwanted effects. Tell your health care provider about other prescription medications, nonprescription medications, herbs, and supplements you're taking, especially:
  • ACE inhibitors (such as enalapril)
  • acetazolamide (Diamox)
  • albuterol (Proventil, Ventolin)
  • anabolic steroids
  • antivirals used for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome
  • asparaginase (Elspar)
  • beta blockers
  • calcitonin (Miacalcin)
  • calcium
  • chloroquine (Aralen)
  • clonidine (Catapres)
  • corticosteroids (medications such as prednisone that reduce inflammation)
  • cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan)
  • danazol
  • diazoxide
  • diltiazem (Cardizem)
  • disopyramide (Norpace)
  • diuretics (water pills)
  • dobutamine
  • epinephrine
  • estrogens
  • ethacrynic acid
  • fluoxetine (Prozac, Sarafem)
  • guanethidine
  • hormonal contraceptives
  • lithium
  • MAO inhibitors (antidepressants)
  • mebendazole (Vermox)
  • medications used to treat diabetes
  • morphine
  • niacin
  • nicotine
  • octreotide (Sandostatin)
  • pentamidine
  • phenothiazines
  • phenytoin
  • (Dilantin)
  • propoxyphene
  • pyridoxine (Vitamin B6)
  • rosiglitazone
  • salicylates (pain and fever reducers, such as aspirin)
  • somatropin
  • sulfinpyrazone
  • sulfonamides (such as Bactrim)
  • terbutaline
  • tetracycline
  • thyroid hormone.
