atenolol (pronounced uh-TEN-uh-lol) |

| Common Side Effects: low blood pressure that may cause dizziness, fatigue. |
| |
| Less Common Side Effects: sluggishness, drowsiness, pain or cramping in legs, nausea, diarrhea, difficulty breathing, fever. |
| |
| Missed Dose: Don't miss any doses. This is especially important when you're taking only one dose per day. Some conditions may become worse if this medication isn't taken regularly. If you do miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it's within 8 hours of your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Don't double the dose. |

Drug Interactions: Combining certain medications may alter their actions or produce unwanted effects. Tell your health care provider about other prescription medications, nonprescription medications, herbs, and supplements you're taking, especially:
- digoxin
- diltiazem (Cardizem)
- insulin
- medications for high blood pressure
- oral antidiabetics
- reserpine
- verapamil (Calan SR, Isoptin SR).
